Sodium hypochlorite patio cleaner is a chemical compound with the formula NaClO. It is composed of a sodium cation (Na+) and a hypochlorite anion (ClO−); it may also be viewed as the sodium salt of hypochlorous acid. When dissolved in water it is commonly known as bleach or liquid bleach. Sodium hypochlorite is practically and chemically distinct from chlorine. Sodium hypochlorite is frequently used as a disinfectant or a bleaching agent.

How to Use Sodium Hypochlorite Patio Cleaner

Sodium Hypochlorite Patio Cleaners are used for more stubborn stains as you need the EXTRA strength solution, which is 50% stronger than the heavy duty solution and may be diluted with up to 6 parts water and 1 part Sodium Hypochlorite 15%.

To use Sodium Hypochlorite Patio Cleaner you can apply the solution and leave and within minutes you will begin to see results. Take the hard work out of cleaning your drive, block paving, fences, walls, brick work, stonework, paths, patios decking, gravelled areas and even roofs.

Cleaning a patio with sodium hypochlorite (also known as bleach) can be an effective way to remove dirt, grime, and stains. However, it's important to use the proper safety precautions and techniques to avoid damage to the patio or harm to yourself or others.

Here are the steps to clean a patio using sodium hypochlorite:

• Wear protective clothing and gear: Before handling sodium hypochlorite, put on long sleeves, pants, gloves, and goggles to protect your skin and eyes.
• Wet the patio: Use a garden hose or pressure washer to wet the patio thoroughly.
• Apply the bleach solution: Pour the bleach solution onto the patio, starting at one end and working your way across. Use a brush or broom to spread the solution evenly and scrub any stubborn stains.
• Let the solution sit: Allow the bleach solution to sit on the patio for 10-15 minutes. This will give it time to break down any dirt and grime.
• Rinse the patio: Use the garden hose or pressure washer to rinse off the bleach solution, starting at the opposite end from where you applied it. Be sure to rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of bleach.
• Let the patio dry: Allow the patio to air dry completely before using it.
• Note: Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when handling sodium hypochlorite, and never mix it with other chemicals or cleaners. Also, be sure to protect any nearby plants or vegetation from the bleach solution, as it can be harmful to them.

In general the following precautions should be taken:

• When using chemicals, protective clothing such as gloves, goggles, boots and overalls should be worn.
• How long to leave sodium hypochlorite on patio?  Within minutes you will begin to see the results.  We recommend leaving no longer than 3 hours.
• Sodium hypochlorite dilution for cleaning patios?  We recommend to start a 50/50 solution with water, increasing if required.
• Adequate ventilation is required when using chemicals in confined spaces.
• When using flammable materials; cigarettes, naked flames and other sources of ignition should be carefully controlled.
• When diluting acids, always add acid to water and not water to acid.
• Any clothing that is contaminated with chemicals should be disposed of safely.
• When using any chemicals, care must be taken not to damage, contaminate or stain any adjoining materials, landscaping or finishes.
• Care must be taken to protect personnel operating in the area of the cleaning from any injury or hazard created by the cleaning. The appropriate First Aid must be available.
• Before undertaking any cleaning operation, a trial should be carried out on a small, preferably inconspicuous area, to determine the effect of the chemicals before treating a large area.

Sodium Hypochlorite Storage Requirements - Always store this product in a cool dry (below 24 deg C) location that is away from children and animals.  Warm and exposed to sunlight conditions will have an adverse reaction to the product as the chlorine will vent naturally.

Guidance for using Sodium Hypochlorite - Pool Chlorine

Sodium Hypochlorite 15% is used for the routine control of bacteria in swimming pools.  For effective treatment ensure that the chlorine levels of the water are a level of 2-3mg/l (ppm).  The levels must be maintained above 1.5mg/l (ppm) as a minimum.  Once the chlorine has been applied the pH of the water must be adjusted to between 7.2 and 7.6 before use.  We recommend these levels are routinely checked by using a pool water testing kit.  When applying the Chlorine add at the point of best mixing, i.e. the water inlets and leave the filter running to ensure even distribution.  All personal protective equipment must be used when handling this product.
